The Organic Food Council of Manitoba and the Manitoba Organic Alliance work to grow the organic sector, gathering the vision and the resources to increase awareness, production and availability of organic food in Manitoba and beyond.

OFCM focuses on education about organics, connecting eaters with farmers, building public knowledge and encouraging a transition to organics. Learn all about OFCM here.

MOA is a collaboration of organic stakeholders - from researchers to farmers, processors to consumers, and all those in between. Members support project to grow organics, discuss issues and vote on actions to be taken to provincial and federal regulators. Learn all about MOA here.

Micro grants are awarded for organic research involving crops or livestock, for organic education such as on-farm field days and for the development of organic educational materials. Grants are open to anyone in North America. Typical grants range from $300-$1,500. The next application deadline is November 15, 2016.

Canada's Food Guide Consultation

Health Canada is revising Canada’s Food Guide to reflect new evidence and meet the needs of various audiences. They are looking for the public's input to:

  • identify ways to effectively communicate nutrition information to Canadians
  • develop healthy eating recommendations and policies
  • better understand different audiences’ use of healthy eating recommendations.
