Our primary funder-partner is Heifer International Canada. Heifer is more than a funder. In addition to financial support, they provide resources, guidance, networking events, and personal assistance as needed. We are proud of our partnership with Heifer International Canada and pleased to participate in the Heifer tradition of Passing on the Gift.
Heifer has provided MFM with seed funds to start our Passing on the Gift (POG) fund. This fund provides bursaries to individuals needing financial assistance to participate in MFM programming. As the fund grows, we will begin making larger sums available as grants and loans to farmers for farm start up, expansion, research, and other activities. |
MFM commits to investing 5% of revenue generated through our programming and fundraising activities to the Passing on the Gift fund. By the end of 2013, we expect to contribute an additional $4000 to this fund. We need your help!
Golden West Radio operates eight radio stations throughout southern Manitoba offering community service radio, agricultural programming, news, weather, sports, along with mixed, country, and contemporary music. Golden West also supports MB organizations through matching funds and sponsorships for radio advertising. For MFM, this is an exceptional contribution because it significantly increases our ability to reach a much wider audience. Listen for MFM ads on AM1250, CFAM Radio 950 in Altona, CFRY 920 AM, 93.1 FM, and on CJRB Radio 1220 in Boissevain.
The Assiniboine Credit Union is one of our supporters for the 2011 New Farmer Challenge, which pays young interns to work on mentor farms. |
Funding for our 2010 farm tours, Intro to QuickBooks for the Small (Farm) Business and the December Small Farmer Get Together was provided by the Canada and Manitoba governments through Growing Forward, a federal-provincial-territorial initiative.
