The Manitoba Organic Alliance is a not-for profit alliance which represents organic organizations, businesses and farmers in Manitoba and lobbies on their behalf. We are looking for a self-employed coordinator on a part-time and contract basis to develop our organization, creating visibility, building our presence and building our capacity. Contact us if you are a competent professional with excellent writing, verbal communication and organizational skills. You will coordinate outreach, focusing on membership and sponsor development and building the presence of organics in Manitoba. You will work with the organizations, engaging stakeholders, cultivating sponsors, providing knowledge to the sector, supporting our efforts to organize events and lobby for the organic sector. This is a part time contract for 6 months for $12,000. Successful completion of this contract and its deliverables may lead to a future full time employment position, based on sector support.

 

Contract Outline

Learn about the sector and make contacts by attending and representing Manitoba organics at Trade show and local events, as agreed to with the board.

Use communications and outreach to build fundraising opportunities.

Contact and meet with potential sponsors and follow up to secure funds and deliver sponsorship benefits

Coordinate and distribute the monthly Manitoba Organic Alliance newsletter

Coordinate a membership/donation drive in cooperation with member organizations.

Add new contacts to database

Attend and participate in board meetings

Organize an Annual meeting

Coordinate with organizations to develop contact list and to support organic events in Manitoba

Coordinate with our bookkeeper to ensure that expenses and receipts are recorded and administrative affairs are in order.

 

Deliverables

Acquire an understanding of partner organizations

Acquire an understanding of organic sector's needs

Create relationships with Alliance partner organizations and potential sponsors

Create stronger recognition of organics in Manitoba

Issue monthly Manitoba Organic Alliance newsletter

Well attended annual general meeting 

$10,000 raised from donations, memberships and sponsorships

Raise awareness among members of government programs and funding opportunities which can strengthen the organic sector

 

Qualifications and assets:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skill

  • Ability to think independently and strategically

  • Marketing and public relations interest

  • Knowledge of modern networking tools

  • Knowledge of the organic sector is not required but must have interest to learn.

  • Experience in not-for-profit management is an asset

  • Experience in team building is an asset
